Feel Your Stresses Fizz Away With A Home Made Bath Bomb

Everyone loves a soak in a hot bath at the end of the day to gently sooth away the stresses of the day. But how about adding a bath bomb and feel the fizz put a smile back on your face as tiny bubbles burst against your skin?

Bath bombs are a great addition to anyone’s bath time. They are fun, fragrant and moisturise. Why not have a go at making your own? They make excellent special gifts for your friends too.

Making your own bath bombs is simple, easy to do and rewarding at the end. All of the ingredients can be easily found in your local supermarket and chemist. All you need is a few simple pieces of equipment that you’ll have in your kitchen to mix up the ingredients. You can use almost anything as a mould from tennis balls cut in half to shot glasses (note that smaller bombs are better to start with as they tend not to crumble as much).

Bath bombs can be made in a variety of shapes and sizes and of different textures. For one that is extra moisturising use Almond Oil or for a fancy gift you can make them to look like your favourite cupcake with frosting on top.

There are four main ingredients to make a basic bath bomb

Citric Acid

Baking Soda

Essential Oils

Colouring

Each ingredient has its own job. The citirc acid is for fizz, baking soda for exfoliating, essential oils to sooth and for fragrance, and colour to make it look pretty, although this is optional.

Once all the mixture is made up and you have filled your mould, they only have to be left a couple of hours to set before empting out. Leave for a couple of days to harden properly and then they are ready to use. Then you’re ready to have some fun… it’s that simple!
