Such A Deal – Discount Yoga Mat Review

It didn’t have to be cute or pink I just wanted a mat that lasted longer than 6 months. The mats I was buying would begin to flake and by the end of class would end on my skin. It also doesn’t slide around on hardwood floors the way some regular mats do. After using this and going back to a regular mat, the old mats feel like standing on a sheet of paper.

The thickness provides much more comfort for some yoga positions. You get a good firm grip without sticking to the mat and dragging it with you when you change positions.

But for home use it’s GREAT. Buy it you’ll like it. I have used the Hugger Mugger version as well and I prefer this one hands down. I lost my first Manduka and thought I’d try the H.M. You cannot feel the hard floor beneath you. This mat is also ultra-durable.

It gives just the right amount – enough to be extremely comfortable but not too much avoiding slippage. It’s a little more money than others but it will last. As far as using it, it has an amazing floor support and the mat grips the floor very steadily, either on hardwood or on carpet. The support is nice with excellent thickness.

When will it get sticky” I keep sliding out of Down-Dog. I do P90X on it and it reduces stress to joints, ankles, etc. Well worth the price and comparable to others in this size category. I could hardly catch my breath; it must have belonged to an instructor who’d forgotten it. I grabbed the mat and proceeded to have an incredible session.

I laid it out in the sun all day. Washed it twice, used it four times, but still slippery.

Down-dog is very hard for me, and my version of the asana is rather wide, creating thrust at hands and feet. I bought this mat hoping to get better grip, especially when sweating, than is possible on lighter mats. The only drawback is the heavy weight, but I knew that before I purchased this mat and I have no regrets. I have used mats from $20 to $100 and this is the best mat ever, I do Asthanga 6 days a week. When the day arrives that my old Manduka is too worn to use, I’ll look for another one just like it. It’s easy to clean, too.
